Kufri :
Kufri in district Shimla is the - winter sports capital - situated 13 kms. from the Ridge, at an altitude of 2,622 meters. It is ideal for skiing. In the past years it has become a big centre of attraction for the tourists during winter. From December to March it wears its white winter garb, with snow trimmings on its tall green pines and deodars. Its undulating slopes are fashioned by nature to exhilarate lovers of winter sports. |

Narkanda :
It commands a unique view of the eternal snow line and the dense forest. A quaint sleepy hamlet. From here, you get breathtaking view of the snow clad Himalayas. 'Hatu Peak' at an altitude of 3,143 meters above sea level at 8 km. from Narkanda. In winter, there are exciting ski slopes to Ski on.
Nestled in the picturesque ranges of Himachal, Narkanda at a height of 3143 Mts. is a quiet town, 64 kms from Shimla. In winter it coats itself with thick, soft snow turning its gentle slopes into an excellent playground. The pleasure of skiing makes Narkanda an attractive destination for many during the winter months. Some of the very steep and smooth slopes hereafter a different kind of skiing experience. These slopes especially appeal to the cross country skier for. Narkanda is set amid fine coniferous forests.
Heli Skiing in Himachal :
The sport is immediately available in the area bound by the Hanuman Tibba, Rohtand Pass, Deo Tibba and Chanderkhani Pass - near the resort town on Manali. A major feature is the compactness of the heli-skiing area. A sortie of ten minutes can carry the skiers to the top of a 14,000 foot high slope.
Manali :
Manali with its unspoilt scenic grandeur is extremely popular with the tourists, for a lavish display of natural scenery. It is one of the principal show places of the Kullu region. To its North, South and West are an ostentation of pinnacles and ridges which, in fine weather, stand out in bold relief against skyline. At the lower elevation and in every direction there are vivid green patches of grassland and evergreen valleys ascending in irregular formation present probably the best view in the country.
In winter is a fairy-tale town holding out an irresistible invitation to the skiers and snow-lovers. Located at a height of 6,000 ft. to 7000 ft., it offers breathtaking ski gradients at Solang Nala. Between December and May ski enthusiasts from all over the world are attracted to this Himalayan resort.
Its smooth-curved ridges and escarpments promise unmatched exhilaration both to expert skiers as well as beginners. Those on a maiden adventure can learn the exciting sport on some of the gentle slopes and gradients with the help of experts. A winter carnival held around the middle of February is a major attraction for the skiers. |
