LOWER LAND ZANSKAR JEEP SAFARI TOUR ITINERARY
Day 01:
Delhi - Leh
On arrival at Leh, our tour representative receive and
transfer you to the hotel at Leh. Check-in to hotel and have
rest. In evening explore Shanti Stupa, Sankar monastery, Leh
palace and the local markets of Leh. Dinner and Overnight
stay in hotel.
Day 02: Leh - Alchi
In morning after breakfast, drive to the village of Alchi
lies on the right bank of Indus River enroute visit Basgo
and Spituk monastery. On arrival at Alchi have lunch, then
visit Alchi monastery, known as the monastic jewels of
Ladakh. Also visit a nearby small gompa- Tsa Tsa puri.
Return back for Dinner and Overnight stay in hote.
Day 03: Alchi - Kargil
Today morning after breakfast, from Alchi drive to Kargil
via Khalsi and Saspol. En route visit Ridzong monastery and
Lamayuru monastery. Enjoy the breathtaking and scenic
landscape here and then continue to Kargil via Fotu La,
highest point at Leh-Srinagar highway. Dinner and Overnight
stay in hotel at Kargil.
Day 04: Kargil – Rangdum
In morning after breakfast in hotel, drive via the
picturesque valleys of Panikhar, Sanku and Parkachik. Visit
Suru valley known as the heartland of Kargil. While crossing
these valleys, enjoy the spectacular view of Kun & Nun peak
and numerous glaciers. Reach campsite at Rangdum. Enjoy
dinner and Overnight stay in camp.
Day 05: Rangdum - Padum
In early morning have breakfast, drive to Padum enroute
visit Rangdum monastery and the zanskar. Enjoy the view of
various unnamed glaciers and quaint shepherd on the way to
Padum. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 06: Karsha monastery, Kalachakra temple, Chuchik jal
Nunnery
After an early morning breakfast, drive for 10 km to Karsha.
Visit a monastery here and nearby is a Chuchik jal nunnery
with a 11 headed large figure of Avaloketeshvra. From there
climb up to visit Rinchen Zangpo, an old stupa and then
drive back to hotel for lunch. Later visit to Kalachakra
temple, a shrine devoted to Dalai Lama. Dinner and Overnight
stay in hotel.
Day 07: Local sideseen of lower part of Zanskar
in the morning have breakfast then drive to Zangla along the
Zangskar river. In Zangla visit the old and new palace of
Zangla king and nunnery. Later drive back to Zanskar enroute
visit Tongdey, one of the prominent and largest monastery in
Zanskar. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
Day 08: Bardan monastry, Stakrimo monastery and Gyalwa
Rignga
In morning after breakfast, proceed to visit Bardan
monastery built on massive rock which is famous for its
handmade copper prayer wheel and ancient festival mask.
Afterward drive back, on the way near Padum visit Gyalwa
rignga, a huge rock on which the five Dayani Buddha are
curved magnificently then proceed to hotel and have lunch.
In the afternoon visit Stakri mo monastery and Pipiting Guru
temple having a stunning figure of Padma Sambhava and the
holy Stupa. Dinner and Overnigt stay in hotel.
Day 09: Zungkhul and Sani
Today after breakfast, visit to one of the holiest monastery
of Zanskar. Zongkhul. A 35 km drive from Padum leads to
Zongkhul, blessed by the great Naropa (great Indian yogi).
It has two beautiful meditation caves. On the way back to
hotel visit Sani palace, known for the sacred Kaniska Stupa,
Naropa temple and a sanctified Lake . Also enjoy your lunch
here. Dinner and Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 10: Padum - Kargil
In morning drive to Kargil from Padum after having
breakfast. On arrival at Kargil check in the hotel and have
rest. Dinner and Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 11: Kargil - Leh
Today after breakfast in morning proceed to Leh from Kargil
and on the way visit Mulbek known for its 9 meters tall rock
statue of ‘Future Buddha’ Maitreya Buddha. Dinner and
Overnight stay in hotel at Leh.
Day 12: Transfer to Leh Airport/ Railway Station
Have an early morning breakfast in hotel. Pick up by a taxi
and transfer to Leh Airport/Railway Station for onward
journey.
Tour ends... but sweet memories always remain.
